Day trip to 7 Lagoons of Ausangate + hot springs

Are you tired of exploring the same attractions in Cusco? Then book with us the tour to the 7 lagoons of Ausangate, a full-day excursion, full of adventure, landscape, mountains, exotic-coloured lagoons (turquoise, blue, green and even reddish) that will blow your mind away; apart from those attractions you will also learn a little bit about Andean flora and fauna (Alpacas, Vizcachas and Cóndors).

The entire hike lasts around 3 hours, covering a distance of 12 kilometers. You’ll begin trekking at an altitude of 4,200 m.a.s.l. and ascend to around 4,600 m.a.s.l.

Cusco to Pacchanta

Cusco to Pacchanta by vehicle: 3 hours – Pacchanta is a community located at 4,300 m.a.s.l.

The walk is steep, to arrive at the first lagoon you will require approx. 1 hour.

9:30 Arrival at 7 lagoons: 4,500 m.a.s.l. (14,763 ft)

The walk is steep and lasts approx. 2 hours. The lagoons are located close to each other, see below the name of the lagoons in order of arrival:

  1. Pucacocha Lagoon (4,500 m.a.s.l.) – is the first lagoon you will arrive at, the lagoon is reddish in color
  2. Patacocha Lagoon (4,620 m.a.s.l.)
  3. Alqacocha Lagoon (4,650 m.a.s.l.)
  4. Qomercocha Lagoon (4,655 m.a.s.l.) – the color of this lagoon is green to turquoise
  5. Orco Otorongo Lagoon (4,620 m.a.s.l.) – is a small lagoon that has the shape and spots similar to a male otorongo
  6. China Otorongo Lagoon (4,550 m.a.s.l.)
  7. Laguna Azul Cocha (4,500 m.a.s.l.) – is the last lagoon you will visit

  • To use these hot springs, the whole group will have to be very good at trekking; otherwise, there won’t be time to spend time in the hot springs. We can never asure that the whole group will be good at trekking, it is a group tour, not private.
  • If you want to make sure your visit to the hot springs, we suggest you a private tour and still you have to be very good at trekking.

Pick-ups and timings:

Group tours:

  • Pick up times and tour ending times are approximate.
  • Bus stop times to visit the attractions, to eat (if applicable) or other activities are always approximate, never exact.
  • Arrival times to the attractions on foot are approximate.
  • We will pick you up as long as you are in the historic center; otherwise, we will coordinate another meeting place.
  • If your hotel doesn’t have a car access, the streets are one-way only or there is a lot of car traffic, then you will walk some blocks to get in the bus.
  • We may not pick you up for some tours due to schedules, festivals and strikes.
  • When being picked up, we will call for your name, lastname and tour destination; otherwise, don’t get on the bus.
  • We will coordinate all pick-up time details one day prior your tour.

  • Your pick up time is sharp on time.

  • You book a seat in the bus — you don’t necessarily book a specific number of seat.
  • If you are picked up first from your hotel, then you can can choose some seats.
  • Your pickup time will depend on your hotel location.
  • Travel partners or couples seat together to 95%; however, we don’t warranty this will happen to 100%.

Road type:

  • Much of the road is paved track.
  • The last part of the road is a dirt road (compacted earth) with bumps, therefore:
    • Dust comes in through the windows.
    • The vehicle ride is sometimes bumpy.

Driver:

  • He drives fast due to distance and time issues.
  • He sometimes listens to music while driving to stay awake.

Private tours:
